Clothed in Fine Linen & Purple??

I have been continually disappointing myself in my ability to emulate the example set for us in Proverbs 31. Now, I realize that these wonderful qualities are attainable only through the Lord, yet it is still my responsibility as a wife & mother to put forth an effort of obedience in these areas.

My husband is in the process of starting a business, so the proverbial belts at our house have been, shall we say, cinched. And, after a lot of faithful use, my good old standby everyday clothing is becoming a bit shabby and "holy" (but not in a good way!). No big deal, right? Life goes on, who really cares how I look...oh, no! On top of all the other things I'm called to emulate, Ms. Proverbs 31 is also telling me to be clothed in fine linen & purple...to look good...I don't know about you, but my pocket book is not really embracing fine linen at this point in history.

Well, I received a huge dose of encouragement in this area last week! How does is sound to you to have 10 or more new cute tops for around $7-15?? If you can even imagine yourself sewing just a little, hang with me here...

Megan, from the Brassy Apple, has put up some fantastic how-to's on how to refashion a plain, blah thrift store T-shirt or big button down into some Kuh-uuuute shirts! I'll be adapting the designs to fit my personal style - all it takes is moving a neckline, or adding or removing a ruffle here or there. Check it out: Brassy Apple

You can go from this:

To this!!

And for that price, I can wear my new tops without stressing about the dog jumping or doing projects with the kids!

You can also see a fun article about Megan & her shirt refashioning at one of my favorite websites How Does She (who, by the way, are having a giveaway today of a FREE Silhouette Craft Cutter - you might want to check that out!)

I just had to pass on the fun today! Don't be scared to sew a little - it's actually really, really easy and fun! These tutorials are very detailed, so even beginners shouldn't have much of a problem. My biggest problem is finding the time to get down to the thrift store! =)
